Blue paint under my skin, mountains in my bones. I fled Guatemala for Las Vegas--leaving dusty coffee fields for gorgeous casino walls, only to discover I was painting illusions instead of truth.

Now I'm back where the volcanoes watch and judge. My father's disappointment weighs on me like rainfall and the family farm I abandoned still thrives without me. I've opened a gallery that exists in the in-between—just like me.

When an American woman stumbles into my space needing shelter from her own storms, I recognize something in her eyes—the same search for solid ground. And as our worlds collide, I must decide: am I still running, or have I finally found where I belong?
