Overview

This Christmas is a story about two young women who fail to gain their ambitious mothers' approval. Samantha Ryder is an overweight embarrassment to her mother, Evelyn. Lana Mills is beautiful but doesn’t want to be the feminine goddess her mother, Gloria, desires her to be.

Evelyn is Gloria’s boss, and when Evelyn invites Gloria and Lana to her house for Christmas dinner, it is an offer Gloria cannot decline—not when Gloria has aspirations for a significant promotion.

Gloria warns Lana to be on her best behavior and spends the evening striving to impress Evelyn. Evelyn cautions Samantha about how much she eats and takes great satisfaction in Gloria’s apparent effort to please her.

The two young women spend time alone and soon take solace in each other’s company, away from their demanding mothers. As the attraction builds, the women have to decide whether to take a chance on a romance, knowing their mothers would disapprove.
