Overview

The first human royal consort, Lucius Rosenfield, thinks he has found his happily ever after with his husband, Vampire King Dorian. However, his happiness only lasts for several months.

After Lucius’s treacherous secret mission is exposed by an enemy, the royal consort falls from grace, loses his husband’s love and respect, and is imprisoned for a year, waiting to be divorced and executed.

Just when Lucius thinks things can’t possibly get worse, he wakes up one day to find himself branded as a slave. Stripped of royal privileges, he begins to witness the true horror and cruelty of a world where humans are dominated and used as livestock firsthand.

With help from a werewolf friend, Lucius narrowly escapes a fate worse than death and leaves Eternia. But as someone who has been “defiled” by vampires, he finds no welcome, consolation, or even safety back home, either.

Will he ever see Dorian again? Will Dorian ever forgive his betrayal? And can love prevail in a world filled with hatred, pain, and remorse, when another war looms between humanity and vampires?
