When big city reporter Jax Cross learns that he'll be covering a murder mystery in a small town in the Pacific Northwest, the last thing he expects is to meet the man of his dreams--literally. Having spent a large part of his life living a lie to please his overbearing father, Jax has practically given up on his search for love and learned to be happy with the mystery man that haunts his dreams every night. When his ex-wife Amelia calls to tell him he's been chosen to cover Mayor Townsend's murder all the way across the country in West Bend, Oregon, he packs his bags and leaves New York City not knowing that he'd soon meet that man face-to-face.

Grayson Mitchell is the owner of The Sweet Spot, a local bakery in West Bend. His business is a huge success, and he loves spending the early mornings chatting it up with his regulars. Despite being a successful business owner, Grayson can't help but feel as though his life isn't complete. He longs for love, marriage and--maybe someday--a few children to call his own. He has a wildly supportive family, including his Grandma Elsie who is known for her loud mouth and crazy antics, so it's no wonder he wants to add to that family.

Having his heart broken by someone who promised to love him forever has left Grayson to believe that he might never find love. That is until a frosting filled brawl at his bakery puts him smack dab in front of Jax. A night of bar hopping leads to some major flirting between the two, but just as fate brought them together it can rip them apart. Jax's home is across the country, and he has a great career going for himself. Will almost losing Grayson not once, but twice, make him rethink big city life and push him to settle down?
