Being an NHL goalie is tough enough without finding out your boyfriend of six years—and teammate—has been cheating on you. The night before a game, no less. I never imagined I'd be facing my worst nightmare off the ice while trying to stay sharp on it. Just when I thought it couldn't get worse, the opposing team rolls in with a new left winger who isn’t just deadly talented but also somehow ends up right in the middle of our argument. He offers his phone number and a chance to talk. I know I shouldn't take it, but damn, he's hard to resist.

Being an NHL left-winger has its perks, but getting in the middle of a fight between Clark Thornton and his ex right after my first NHL-game ever? Not exactly what I signed up for but kind of entertaining. I offer my number - more as a joke to keep said entertainment than seriousness. But man, it didn’t stay a joke for long. There's something about Clark that I can't ignore, and now I’m in way deeper than I planned.
