Jowan and his companions roam the country in service of the king. One night, they arrive in a village where not everything is what it seems. One by one, Jowan's friends start to mysteriously disappear. He seeks comfort in Tamlin, a helper at the inn they're staying, and they end up falling in love - but Tamlin seems to have secrets of his own.
