Kicked out of his house for being gay, Ambrose has only got a few more days left in the dorms before summer starts. With no money, and nowhere to go, he’s not quite sure how he’s going to survive until school starts up again in the fall.

But Ambrose’s jock roommate Reid has an idea: a road trip to LA, and then Ambrose can stay with Reid until classes resume. Ambrose isn’t thrilled to be sponging off of his wealthy — and very hot — roommate all summer, but he has no other options. And while Reid can sometimes be a bit of a jerk, even a bully, he’s got a good heart. Too bad he’s straight.

Or sort of straight.

Because Reid has an idea to turn this adventure into something a little more fun than a road trip. With Reid’s encouragement, Ambrose explores his gay side, even his kinky side, in casual encounters and anonymous one-night stands, all across the western United States. Trucks, cowboys, drifters, and strangers — every encounter changes Ambrose, and he learns to embrace his true self, his true desires, even if they’re a little wild.

And somewhere along what used to be Rt. 66, Reid makes his own discoveries. Because what starts as a sort of half-cruel dare turns into something more. And Reid starts to suspect that he’s not quite straight, and maybe Ambrose is more than just a friend he likes to tease.
