Thom Hodges is on the run from Washington.

With a failing gay marriage and a dying father on a ranch back in West Texas, he’s not too keen to stay in the country as American-Russian relations continue to fall apart.

A C.I.A. analyst, Thom takes a special assignment in Moscow to solve a large-scale computer network hack at the American embassy and to escape his husband Jason.

On the ground, he initially fails to solve the hack, but quickly succeeds at falling in love with Petrov, a Russian G.R.U. operative.

Soon, however, both Thom and Petrov find themselves in the middle of an international conspiracy and at the end of a gun.
