Life after college wasn’t what Kacey Everette had expected. He’d moved back in with his mother and taken any jobs to pay his way — not the bright future he’d envisioned.

During an evening out with some old friends, Kacey signed up to take part in a study. Details were sketchy, but the pay for the study was more substantial than any of his current prospects.

King Hunter masterminded the forthcoming study. His work was important to him. The study wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea and took a strong stomach to see it through to the end and be rewarded with the cash. Several didn’t make it. Kacey wasn’t sure if he would, at first. After the initial shock wore off, Kacey embraced his time in the study, even getting caught up in his new role. King was proud of his new student, and soon their emotions got tangled into the mix, blurring Kacey’s vision of how to move forward both during and after the project.
