The day had started like any other, but then I found myself seated in the back of a police cruiser, my heart pounding and my nerves fraying like an old rope. I'd glanced out the window at the early morning streets. I have to say the world looks a little different from the back of a cruiser. All I had wanted was a simple ride to campus. My brother Carter had taken our shared car, even though it was my turn, and I'd been left stranded. But then, like a knight in shining armor (who am I kidding), my neighbor Brady, a cop, had offered to give me a lift. I couldn't help but feel a flutter of excitement at the prospect. Brady was not only handsome and unpredictable, he was also insatiable - he and I had enjoyed each other many times, if you know what I mean. However, my anticipation soon gave way to bewilderment as the day took unexpected turn after unexpected turn. He'd had to pick up his partner Chuck at the last minute. Each time Brady's police radio crackled to life, I knew that my ride to campus was going to be diverted, again. What started as a simple lift to school had turned into a full-blown ride-along. As we sped through the city streets, sirens wailing and lights flashing, my mind raced. I had never experienced anything like this before. The adrenaline coursing through my veins was electrifying, but my nerves were also on high alert - was this next call going to be dangerous? I had no idea what to expect when we screeched to a halt in front of a quaint bookstore that also happened to sell adult novelty items. While Chuck and Brady did their jobs, I wandered around the store, which was full of all sorts of curious things. I certainly hadn't expected to find the guy who'd robbed the place. I guess, though, in truth he found me. He'd grabbed me and dragged me into one of those adult video booths - you know the kind, for people who don't have the internet. Or for those that don't want to leave a trail of evidence. It all happened so fast I barely had time to think. The world around me spun into a surreal blur as that thug took advantage of that confined space. Outside I could hear Brady and Chuck talking with the store owner, their voices stern yet laced with a hint of humor - I guess stolen books didn't make it high on their list of emergencies. Trapped in that booth with that guy, I couldn't decide whether to be terrified or amused.
