Overview

Steve is a straight, married lawyer in suburban Connecticut. His wife goes on a business trip, leaving Steve with some chores around the house. Not being one for hard physical labor (much preferring to sit around in the nude, cook spaghetti, and listen to the Smiths), Steve goes to hire a Mexican day laborer: jovial, stocky, bubble-butted, flirtatious Pedro.

Pedro wears tight, short denim work shorts to show off his top asset, and when Pedro and Steve pass each other in a tight hallway, desire mounts. Soon Steve and Pedro find out a lot more about themselves, in a warm, personal relationship that goes beyond employment, but also beyond sex.

This 36-page novella, based on a true story, is the thinking man's gay erotica. Steve is full of self-doubt and sometimes self-mocking, and there are no clear-cut, cardboard-cutout characters. This novella is a journey in self-exploration.
