Overview

The story follows Aio, a queer witch and anthropologist whose hidden magical abilities thrust him into a dangerous conflict between oppressed witches and the fascist mage-government, Covena. After uncovering the murder of a hexen and killing the mage responsible, Aio becomes a fugitive, aided by his fae best-friend Brona and the serpented mage Silas, with whom he develops a deep romantic bond. As Aio’s powers grow he travels across magical communities seeking alliances, only to face a devastating loss. Driven by grief, and identity, Aio commits to uniting marginalised magical groups and igniting a rebellion that could reshape the balance of power in the supernatural world. Grief becomes fire. Destiny becomes war. And Aio rises—vowing to bring Covena to its knees, no matter what burns along the way.
