Inez Aarden has lived in the New World her entire life. While she’s curious about the outside of their fenced-off town, she’s content with her life of hanging out with her best friend and meeting up with her secret girlfriend.

All of that changes when she wakes up in a burned down city surrounded by thirty other kids. Evander has brought them all there for a very specific reason; the New World is expanding, and the kid that survives the longest will become the president of the next town.

As Inez forms alliances and fights to survive, she realizes that all the kids have one important thing in common. Is it a coincidence, or has the president been lying to them? Why are they really here?
