Stuck in the pouring rain at the side of the road in a town I have lived in for exactly one day wasn’t on my to-do list, but here I am. Stupid flat tire.

No problem. I have roadside assistance…only you need a phone for that and mine just fell into the storm drain. I’m screwed.

When a car pulls up, I prepare to tell them I’m fine and don’t need any help. Safety first and all that. Only the man who comes to offer help has me doing the opposite. As he makes quick work of my tire, I break down, telling him everything that has gone wrong in the past two days and, and it’s a long list.
I want to repay him for his kindness. He refuses my money. I can’t let him go with only a thank-you, and give him the ultimate reward, tucking my prized unicorn bracelet into his jacket pocket.

My next day at work, guess whose office I’m sent into?
