DIY is so far from my skillset that I need binoculars to catch sight of it in the distance. But Detective Inspector John Bean, aka the man of my dreams, knows what he's doing, at least to the extent of watching a video and buying the right tools. Whoever had applied the original tiles must have had a strong stomach and a fondness for chessboards-at an angle.
