My marriage is over. Cal—the man I’ve loved since the day our eyes met across a crowded bar—isn’t leaving me for another man. He’s just a workaholic who constantly puts his business before us. He misses my latest book’s release party, and it’s the final knife in the back I need to leave. I take off to my cabin in the woods to get some space to think about everything.

I don’t have the answers I need after a couple of weeks alone, or the book I owe my publisher. The night before Halloween, I drink a Scotch and put on a slasher movie to kill time.

Little do I know…someone is waiting just beyond the treeline… Someone who wants to kill me.

A masked man breaks into my home and threatens to hunt me down. As he chases me through the forest, I wonder if I’ll ever see my husband again, or if the ending of my story is finally here.
