Overview

A historical love story between two Australian soldiers.

The year is 1968. John Gorton is Prime Minister. Australia’s commitment to the Vietnam War is in full swing and the Holden Monaro is Wheels Car of the Year.

SAM McKENNA is 22 years old and the son of a farmer in regional Queensland. He is good-looking, smart, likeable, and heir to a fortune. Yet, there is a melancholy about him that he doesn’t understand.

LUKE HAUGER is 24 years old, tall, handsome, and a career army recruit. He is intense, aggressive, masculine, and forced to keep his sexual orientation hidden from the Army. He is deeply troubled by the violence in his past.

Luke and Sam meet while serving in the Australian Army in South Vietnam. Friendship turns into attraction, and while on recreation leave in Vung Tau they share an intimate night that changes their lives forever. While their attraction to one another is undeniable, love is new territory for them both. Will their feelings for one another be strong enough to survive the ravages of War?

Trigger warnings: Violence, mental health concerns, drug use, homophobia, sexually explicit content, and general attitudes of the era.
