Overview

Daniel Ellis is a detective who is on a sabbatical from work, traveling to the isolated town of Stringle, after a case left him severely traumatized. He is wondering whether he wants to continue being a detective as it has polluted his life and relationships.

One day, he befriends a fellow outsider to the town, a man named Jacob Griffiths. The two men bond over the feeling of isolation, and Jacob supports Daniel through his panic attacks. Jacob relishes the friendship with Daniel and feels it has unlocked a part of himself that wasn’t there before.

But as the two men’s relationship blossoms, the town is beset by a string of murders. And Daniel begins to wonder if there is more to Jacob than meets the eye...
